About eduroam

Why eduroam?

eduroam is a secure wireless access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from all participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity wherever the service is broadcast.

By enabling eduroam in clinical sites, the Health Authorities and the Faculty of Medicine are providing wireless access to MD and Health Professions learners and educators from all of the major post-secondary institutions in BC.

Benefits for Health Authorities

The use of eduroam in clinical spaces provides a number of potential benefits for Health Authorities:

  • Reduces the need for additional wireless infrastructure to support education throughout clinical sites, since the solution runs on existing infrastructure.
  • Separates the management of educational wireless users from clinical wireless users, which reduces the need to set-up clinical guest accounts and provide support to educational users.
  • Allows Health Authorities to broadcast only one SSID to provide wireless access for all educational wireless users.
