The Faculty of Medicine successfully completed the transition to the new MEDICOL this August. The new MEDICOL (Medicine and Dentistry Integrated Curriculum On-Line) is an integrated environment that provides access to all resources and curricular materials for learners, faculty and staff affiliated with the MD undergraduate program.

The new MEDICOL is the result of a multi-year project developed in consultation with program staff, faculty, and students in order to provide the best solution to meet evolving curriculum needs. Key features include a portal, a learning management system, and a learning object repository.

In addition to designing and setting up a new system, the project team migrated all of the existing content and documents for Years 1 to 4 of the MD undergraduate program.

Feedback has shown that users are excited for the refreshed look of the system, its intuitive interface, and enhanced features such as search. The new system also provides staff with greater control over their own curriculum materials online, empowering them to post and manage their own content.

MedIT expects to continue working with the MD undergraduate program to enhance existing features within MEDICOL, and will explore the possibility of expanding the use of MEDICOL to other groups within the Faculty of Medicine.
