Remote Computing

Connecting Off-Site

If you would like to connect to your Faculty of Medicine applications and systems (e.g. shared drives) outside of the office, you can apply to the MedIT Service Desk for Virtual Private Network (VPN) access.

A VPN connection uses encryption to protect data and prevent others from accessing information that is transmitted over the network. VPN access grants you access to your system and information from anywhere, while using encryption to keep it safe.

To apply:

Complete theĀ MedIT VPN Access Request Form and submit it to the MedIT Service Desk.

Technology

If you have a CWL, we can provide encrypted remote network access from any computer using VPN access and terminal services. Our VPN services are provided using Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client in association with UBC IT.
