Audience Response Systems

Audience Response Systems (ARS) allow presenters greater opportunities to interact with their audiences.

For MD Undergraduate sessions, ARS can increase student participation and engagement, and enable faculty to instantly recognize where students are struggling. Students appreciate the in-class formative assessment opportunities that can be followed through the discussion, and that ARS can be used to engage them regardless of where they are located in the province at the time of the lecture.

These techniques can be used for any Faculty of Medicine (FoM) event to engage audiences, whether they are joining in-person or through videoconference.

If you are interested in incorporating ARS into your MD Undergraduate Lecture or FoM event, please contact the MedIT Service Desk (1.877.266.0666) for support.

ARS is available at any FoM site with a stable wireless connection.

For more information, consult the Guidelines for use of ARS in the MD Undergraduate Program and the ARS training videos.

ARS Technology

ARS combines wireless hardware with Turning Technologies’ TurningPoint presentation software to gather instantaneous audience feedback through a voting process.

Turning Technologies’ TurningPoint audience response system works alongside your presentation, whether that is PowerPoint, Word, a website, or other software, and allows audiences and students to participate by submitting responses to interactive questions using their personal device (i.e. smartphone, tablet, or other web enabled device).
